Routine Care

While brushing and flossing at home are important in maintaining optimal oral health, regular oral exams and cleanings as well as routine dental care by your dentist are even more important. To prevent gum disease and tooth decay, our office utilizes advanced technology to clean your teeth and gums more thoroughly than you would at home. Our comprehensive oral exams also include oral cancer screenings. Early diagnosis and treatment of oral cancer are critical aspects to raising the chances of survival.

Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea is a serious medical condition that, if left untreated, can cause other harmful health problems including heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, diabetes, or even death. Many people are unaware they have sleep apnea, but the condition can be diagnosed with a sleep study. Typical signs of sleep apnea can include intense snoring, breathing pauses while sleeping of up to 10 seconds or more, headaches, and feeling fatigued even after getting plenty of sleep. If you or a loved one might have sleep apnea, we can help treat you. We can create a custom-made oral sleep appliance that is usually a more comfortable alternative to the CPAP. It looks and feels similar to an orthodontic retainer and it is designed to prevent airway obstruction, minimize snoring, and allow you to get a healthier, more peaceful night’s sleep.

Laser Gum Therapy

A very important part of gum therapy and overall smile improvement is the use of a laser to shape tissues, kill bacteria, and promote a long-term environment for improved cosmetics and health. A laser can often replace other surgical techniques that enhance these tissues. Recovery is usually very fast and virtually pain-free, without the need for surgery, incisions, or sutures. The laser is an integral part of our long-term, cosmetic excellence.

Periodontal Care

Periodontics is the branch of dentistry concerned with the care and maintenance of the gums and other soft tissues of the mouth. Proper gum care is essential to the overall health of your teeth and mouth. It is especially important to establish good gum care routines early in life, as gum disease is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults. Our trained cosmetic dentists and their team always pay special attention to the gums of their patients to ensure that they are healthy. We are vigilant in educating our valued patients on the proper ways to care for their gums.

Mercury-Free Dentistry

Sometimes referred to as “biocompatible” dentistry, Eureka Smiles aims to provide the highest quality and safest care possible with mercury-free dentistry. The benefits of mercury-free dentistry include: minimizing the use of toxins from our dental materials; reducing potential health risks associated with mercury; and protecting the environment. Amalgam fillings, the traditional silver-colored fillings, contain mercury, which has been proven unsafe in certain amounts for both the human body and the environment. There are very specific regulations about disposing unused amalgam and mercury to protect the environment, so why are we putting this substance in our own bodies? We believe in using tooth-colored porcelain fillings, which are not only healthier, but also natural-looking. If you currently have amalgam fillings, we recommend having them safely removed and refilled with porcelain fillings.

Endodontics/Root Canal Therapy

Root canal therapy may be necessary for severe cases of tooth decay. Deep cavities, injury, fracture, or gum disease can be a few potential causes of bacteria developing in the tooth chamber that might cause an infection. If your teeth become sensitive to heat or cold, you experience gum swelling or pain, or have a constant bad taste in your mouth, you may have an infection. An infected tooth will never heal on its own. Without treatment, your tooth could fall out, you could develop an abscess, and/or you may experience bone deterioration surrounding the infected tooth. As the infection worsens, it can weaken the immune system and plague other parts of the body, potentially causing heart attack, stroke, or other serious conditions.

The good news is we can help you avoid tooth loss and further damage to your health with root canal therapy. As a form of restorative dentistry, this procedure is designed to remove the infected tissue, sterilize the nerve chamber, destroy all bacteria, and seal the nerve chamber and the tooth. After cleaning and sterilizing the infected area, we will place a custom-made crown on your tooth to reinforce it and even improve its appearance. The crown should give your tooth added support, while looking and feeling natural.
